Let’s be honest, we all build kingdoms for ourselves. We set out to achieve goals with the idea of showing everyone around us how awesome we are. Impressively expensive pieces of paper that tell everyone around that you are incredibly smart in a particular field. Countless hours of practice on a particular skill to demonstrate your mastery beyond others. Attempt after attempt in hopes of perfecting your creative masterpiece. Building tiny kingdoms for ourselves.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be the best, brightest, or top in your area. Until it interferes with the path God has carved for you.
There must come a point along your journey where you ask yourself, “Am I doing this for my glory or for God’s?” If you know with no doubts that you are working in God’s purpose, for His Glory, then keep moving forward.
But, if you stop and truly evaluate the path you are on, and find that it is not for God’s glory, perhaps it is time to reevaluate.
Oftentimes, we begin on the path that He has set before us and become sidetracked. We see an opportunity that mimics the path but distracts or derails us just enough to fool us. Think about the path you are on right now. When did you last sit with the Lord and ask if you were still on track? When did you last check to make sure you were still aligned with His purpose for you?
Take time this week to take stock. Ask God if you are living the purpose He crafted for you. Ask Him to direct your steps to the path meant for you to walk. Become a true Kingdom builder.
