How many of us have sat back, evaluated our lives, and thought how positively ordinary we are? In glancing through the story of your life, you find nothing truly staggering. No huge feats of daring. No heroic acts of bravery. No epic, crowd-stirring speeches.
Many of us lead quiet, completely unassuming lives. We grow through childhood, survive the changes of adolescence, and move right into adulthood.
But, what if ordinary can be extraordinary?
We don’t realize that often it is our small acts of kindness that make the biggest impacts. Donating food to the local food pantry or the gently used clothes donated to a local church closet. A few dollars slipped in the Salvation Army bucket. The meals cooked for a family in need. Checking in on an elderly neighbor. Coaching a kid's sports team. Greeting a new face in church. Treating an overwhelmed mom to a coffee break. Taking in kids who need a home. Helping repair a flat tire. Snow blowing your neighbor's driveway. Volunteering in the local soup kitchen.
These small acts make extraordinary impacts in the lives of others. Pouring into the lives of others, impacting them on an intimate personal level, is extraordinary.
We all have the potential for extraordinary. God has placed it within us. It's up to us to follow his direction and move beyond the ordinary into the extraordinary.
How will you turn the ordinary into the extraordinary this week?
