There’s something wonderful about the start of a new year. It’s a fresh start. A new notebook with 365 blank pages, all waiting to be penned. The prospect of new adventures, of making changes, all lying before you. For some, a new year is thrilling. They look forward to the start of something new. They eagerly anticipate the things to come and relish in the unknown presented before them.

For others, the prospect of a new year brings fear and even trepidation. The unforeseen aspects of what lies ahead makes them anxious. Ending one year and beginning another can bring uneasiness forward.

As we move forward in the new year, remember the Lord did not give us a spirit of fear. He will hold us up and give us the strength we need.  Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Take time today to dig into what is causing the fear and anxiety you may be feeling about the coming year. Then, lay it before the cross and give it to God.

May this year bring new revelations about God in your life. Happy New Year church family.
